Media Matters Tax Exempt Status Delenda Est | Verum Serum

June 24, 2011

Brock also made clear that he saw his mission to try to the best of his ability to counteract Republican fundraising efforts, that had frankly exceeded in substance and sophistication, those of the Democrats…Brock also made it clear to me that his focus was on the party, and providing and creating a level playing field for it and its advocates, rather than positioning himself as exclusively or even primarily as a media critic.

What MMFA is simply a shill and propaganda arm of the progressive Democratic Party? I’m dying of not surprise….

And it’s tax exempt? What?

You mean like the (“non-partisan”) Tea Party:

    Americans for Tax Reform (???)

I want to know how Fox gets away with this and isn’t regulated as political speech:

    http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Fox_News_passes_off_GOP_press_0210.html

“A GOP press release was turned into a series of graphics and passed off as the network’s own research — so exactly that the graphics even included the Republicans’ original typo.”

    Oh yeah, and again:

“Fox News adopted its “headline” for today straight from a press release from the office of Republican Rep. Paul Ryan, claiming that the Congressional Budget Office estimated that “government spending as a share of our economy will increase by nearly 70 percent by 2035.” In its long-term budget outlook, CBO projected that spending would increase from 24.1 percent of GDP in 2011 to 27.4 percent in 2035.”

That is a friggin’ news organization??? Seriously?

What does it say about Media Matters that their STATED mission is to destroy Fox News, they have a tax exempt status, get most of their funding from a far left multi-billionaire, somehow still claim to be a legitimate news organization, and STILL can’t bring Fox News down?

What?? As usual a complete misunderstanding…

The MISSION of Media Matters is a completely legal 503(c)(3) organization. Nothing about Fox is in their STATED mission, but since Fox is the most popular inns irate media source in the US, it stands to reason they are a frequent subject.

Funding from a billionaire? So what?? Where do you think most of the Right-Wing attack money comes from, widows and school children?? Who is Murdoch, Koch Brothers, Scaife, etc., but the Right’s moneybags…

You are absolutely wrong, MM NEVER claims to be a “news source”. That is what Fox pretends to be, but fails daily. MM is a research and information center. Never claim to be anything but. I love how the response to Fox’s continual lack of journalistic integrity or basic research skills (or fact checking) is to somehow try and compare the two. Sad.

“inns irate” = inaccurate by the way…
