Texas Tells Feds: Shove Your Light Bulb Ban – Texas – Fox Nation.

Heh. No interstate commerce…. no interstate commerce clause to fall back on to regulate the bulbs…. brilliant.

Ofcourse, to nanny-stater big government types, this doesn’t matter. They always have the authority… always….

“It’s true that the current versions of incandescent light bulbs will be phased out of existence. Compact fluorescent and LED bulbs offer more efficient alternatives, but if incandescent light is your thing, the major light bulb makers have you covered. They have developed and shipped halogen incandescent bulbs that meet the new efficiency standards, so there is no basis in fact to claim they have been banned in favor of fluorescent bulbs. We rule this claim Pants on Fire.

More proof Texas can’t get out of their own way. Along with the legislation for 3 Days of Prayer for rain… instead of actual government effort. Wow, they are just beyond stupid, aren’t they…

    Mike,

You’re spinning so furiously there are centrifuges in Iran that are blushing with envy.

Atleast we’re realizing that politifact is full of crap way too often. Their truth-o-meter is splitting hairs. Ofcourse they admit that currently produced incandescent light bulbs will be phased out of existence BECAUSE THEIR PRODUCTION IS BANNED by the FEDERAL government. There is no lie in that statement, no “pants on fire” declaration that will make it a lie. Sure, I can get get CFLs (dangerous to the environment and I can’t wait until we start testing levels of mercury in our landfills and other places…) LED bulbs that actually cost exponentially more than their incandescent counterparts (much like “green” vehicles cost more than their gas-based counterparts).

But I get to pay alot more for them. I bought FOUR incandescent light bulbs from Wal-Mart (actually, I bought alot of them because they’re CHEAP and they’re going away) for… wait for it… ONE DOLLAR!

At Home Depot, I can get the incandescents for $1.27 for 4.

How much can I get these new, wonderful federally compliant “halogen incandescent” light bulbs for?

    Yeah. 8 bucks for two.

    So I get a 60W current incandescent for 32 cents a bulb. I can get a 40W “halogen incandscent” for 4 dollars.

The 40W halogen incandescent is good for 3000 hours. So 3000 hours for 4 dollars. the 60W incandscent is good for 1000 hours. So i have three bulbs to the one. But I get 3000 hours for…. huh… less than a buck…

Great deal. Awesome. Thanks for playing. Might as well go buy me a Prius or Leaf and take another hit in the shorts there. Or can I expect some more government subsidizing in the form of tax breaks, refunds, credits, etc. etc.

Oh, and how is the government going to make it rain again? Government effort in that regard? Or are you simply making fun of those who believe in the power of prayer…

“BECAUSE THEIR PRODUCTION IS BANNED by the FEDERAL government.”

Again, apparently you really are loving the spread of lies: “Although the United States is not phasing out incandescent light bulbs, it has set minimum efficiency standards for lighting which preclude most legacy incandescent designs; these minimum standards phase in between 2012 and 2014.[8]”

THERE IS NO BAN!!! It is made up conservative crap. There ARE new efficiency standards. As I already posted: “if incandescent light is your thing, the major light bulb makers have you covered. They have developed and shipped halogen incandescent bulbs that meet the new efficiency standards”

So the “Light Bulb Ban” IS A PANTS ON FIRE MOMENT that you just won’t let go of…

“Atleast we’re realizing that politifact is full of crap way too often.”

Heh. More of the “facts are anti-conservative”:

“PolitiFact has won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for our coverage of the 2008 election”

    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2009/apr/20/politifact-wins-pulitzer/

“Oh, and how is the government going to make it rain again?”

I am talking more dealing with droughts, fire suppression, prevention, etc.

“Or are you simply making fun of those who believe in the power of prayer…”

I don’t have a problem with people believing in the power of prayer. I have a major issue with GOVERNMENT pushing the same idea. You know, the whole 1st Amendment thing… silly me.

“THERE IS NO BAN!!! It is made up conservative crap. There ARE new efficiency standards.”

Yes Mike. So tell me, what happens when a company either creates a incandescent bulb that doesn’t meet the new federal standards, or they import it for sale in their stores? My assumption is that, based on your claim that there is no ban, that nothing will happen. They will not be fined or their CEOs and managers not put in jail. Because, after all, there is no ban. The companies can continue to go on as normal, producing the current versions of incandescents, because, there is no ban. Nothing will happen to these people.

Please. Split some more hairs. Tell me again how there is no ban. Pee on my leg and call it waste-recycling irrigation…. you’re still peeing on my leg..

““PolitiFact has won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for our coverage of the 2008 election”

Dan Rather won several Peabody Awards as well….

“I am talking more dealing with droughts, fire suppression, prevention, etc. ”

Oh yeah. I forgot. The State of Texas is doing none of that. Just letting the entire State burn for craps and grins. Nice strawman…

“I don’t have a problem with people believing in the power of prayer. I have a major issue with GOVERNMENT pushing the same idea. You know, the whole 1st Amendment thing… silly me.”

Mike, I think you are confusing that entire Freedom of Religion with Freedom From Religion. It’s different, I promise you. Kind of like when Barack Obama (and every President before him that I can think of) conclude their speechs with God Bless You and God Bless America. If Rick Perry was ORDERING people to pray, bringing in the Gestapo to ensure it was happening, then perhaps you’d be correct in stating the 1st Amendment….
