Obama rejects top lawyers’ legal views on Libya – Glenn Greenwald – Salon.com

Just imagine if George Bush had waged a war that his own Attorney General, OLC Chief, and DoD General Counsel all insisted was illegal (and did so by pointing to the fact that his White House counsel Alberto Gonzales and a legal adviser at State agreed with him). One need not imagine this, though, because there is very telling actual parallel to this lawless episode:

    The selective analysis to say “same as the old” is about as far as you can stretch reality.

    Should he get Congressional approval? Probably. Is this a constitutional crisis like wiretapping, Iran/Contra, Watergate? No. Ask Greewald who he’d rather have in office…

    See, you are seeing why liberals/progressives are more honest: we don’t wait until our guy is out of office (or lame duck) to criticize.
