Autos Insider | GM chief pushing for higher gas taxes | The Detroit News.

Crony capitalism at it’s finest:

A government-imposed tax hike, Akerson believes, will prompt more people to buy small cars and do more good for the environment than forcing automakers to comply with higher gas-mileage standards.

Nobody wants to buy them Chevy Volt’s that are not cost effective by any means in today’s marketplace. So, Mr. Obama and Congress, would you so kindly manipulate the costs so as to make them more attractive?

Brilliant. Simply brilliant. This will work out well…

Crony capitalism?! Really? How about the oil barons telling Congress they absolutely need the billions in tax subsidies and grants they get or they’ll be forced to fire their Salvadoran gardener, sell their third boat and maybe even forgo the island they were thinking of buying… Jeez.

I forgot Mike, in your world a subsidy is when you get to keep your own money instead of having the government take it from you…

And I’m pretty sure that when the oil companies keep their own money, it isn’t to influence the consumer into purchasing their product….
